In WordPress the links or URLs to your Posts and Pages are automatically generated for you, your website page links are important for SEO & Visitors. You can control how these are generated using the WordPress Permalink Settings.
The default Permalink settings in WordPress are typically set to use the Page/Post ID. This is bad for search engine optimization which is enough reason on it's own to improve it but it is also bad for your visitors. As an example a Post you create in WordPress might have a URL like "YourSite.com/?p=529". This isn't descriptive for search engines and doesn't help the user either.
